League Philosophy

Recreation Soccer is the introduction for most to the game of soccer. Recreation provides a solid foundation of the game of soccer. U6 through U10 focus on small teams and small sided games to ensure that every player participates fully in the game, touches the ball frequently, and learns basic skills in the process. The teams are organized at the beginning of each season. At the Recreation level, no team standings are kept and keeping score in the game is discouraged.

KYSL's efforts on promoting the Leagues Philosophy focuses on the following:

  • Encouraging a healthy attitude toward sports and mannerly actions at all times.
  • Providing a fun and rewarding soccer experience for all.
  • Furnishing an environment of good sportsmanship.
  • Giving each player the opportunity to develop a solid foundation of soccer.
  • Promoting a greater appreciation for soccer and its benefits.
  • Ensuring that each child is participating and has an equal amount of playing time.

All players who come to practice and practice properly are entitled to play at least one half of every game. It is the intent of NTSC that all players be given equal playing time throughout the season (50% rule). The only exceptions occur when, (a) in case of sickness or injury, (b) if the player consistently misses scheduled practices, and (c) disciplinary reasons; such as disrespectful attitudes and/or behaviors or non-participation in practices.
